Banana Bars
These bars are a delicious treat. Not possible to eat just one with a cup of milk or coffee.
Ingredients
- ½ cup butter, softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 3 overripe bananas, mashed
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 1-2oz. pkg. Gurley’s chopped walnuts
- Frosting:
- ½ cup butter, softened
- 8oz. cream cheese
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tsp. vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Cream butter and sugar together in a medium sized bowl.
- Beat in eggs, bananas and vanilla.
- Combine flour, baking soda and salt then add to creamed mixture and mix well.
- Fold in chopped walnuts
- Pour into greased 15 x 10 x1 baking pan.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool then frost.
- Frosting:
- ½ cup butter, softened
- 8oz. cream cheese
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- Cream butter and cream cheese in a mixing bowl.
- Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla; beat well.
- Spread over bars
